Always learning

Hello my fellow readers and followers! It has been a while and I am sorry for the long wait. God has been teaching me a lot through his word. The main principle I have been learning is faith without works is dead. James 2:18 “But someone may well say, you have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works.” For the last two week I have been meditating on James chapter 1&2 and just trying to apply it to my daily life. In meditating on the word of God I realize that God moves when we move. Just as Abraham was about to slay his son God told him to stop and what do you know, there was a ram in the bush. God is moved by our faith in him. When we are willing to step outside of ourselves and do as God commanded us to do (Matt 28:19) he will be right there waiting for us.

Fighting Complacency

Hello Readers,
This past week has been full of ups and downs. On the upside of things I have been applying for different accounting positions all throughout Bangkok, in the prayerful hopes of finding a job. This past Sunday I ran into a former Thai friend name Dewie. I met him in 2008 when I came to Thailand for the first time to do mission work. He and some of his friends were about to eat lunch when we ran into each other at the Barmy on Kasetsart campus. It was refreshing to see Dewie again and talk with him because he knows that I’m a Christian and he has heard the gospel before. That same day I got a chance to hangout with another Thai guy name Thoon. Thoon is very interested in the Christian life and I am hoping to spend more time with him so that he can see God’s light in me and one day he too will give his life to Christ.
On the downside of things I haven’t heard anything back from the companies I’ve applied to for the accounting positions. I have also been fighting against boredom and complacency. Since I have a lot of open time during the day it is very easy for me to just sleep it away or do nothing at all. This however is very hard for me because I have not been the one to just sit down and do nothing I like to move and stay busy. I know that God has a plan for my life here in Thailand but the wait process is kind of hard.
This week I have been studying the life of Job, trying to see how he dealt with the constant attacks from the enemy. Along with studying Job I am also studying Jesus’ relationship with his 12 disciples in the book of Mark. Well that is all I have for this week! Stay encourage and remember God is only one pray way.

The Move

What a move indeed! Right now I’m in a very unique spot in life. I have begun to realize that I don’t have all the answer to my questions nor do I have a failsafe plan for my life. All I can do is trust in God’s master plan for my life. Even though I am not sure on exactly what I will be doing in Thailand, I know that God has given all believers a universal purpose: “Go Therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” Matt 28:19-20. Considering Jesus gave all believers that commandment I will seek that until God leads me to my individual purpose for being in Thailand.

Please be in prayer for Covenant Church in Bangkok, the Thai government and the people of Thailand. Right now Thailand is in political disarray with one of their politicians in court for stealing money from the government and selling assets to other countries. It is possible most of the country could go under martial law because of this incident and rising political riots from the people. I am convinced that God is working in the mist of this chaotic situation. So I want to encourage every to trust in God even when the outcome looks bad.

“And we know that God causes all things to worlk together for good to those who love God to those who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28

The Change

Hello again everyone,
A lot has happen since my last entry. I started the KIMBA program this past Monday and it was really good. All of my classmates are Thai national and I am the only American student in the program. I felt like this was the place for me but I didn’t have God’s peace when I went to class. For the last three days I had no peace in my decision to pursue a MBA in Thailand, I wanted to use this as an excuse to do ministry. So this morning I got up and I prayed for two hours about what it is God has called me to do in Thailand. After I finish praying one of the missionaries called me in response to a message I wrote him last night. Last night I had a meeting with one of the staff members from the KIMBA program and she told me that I had not paid for the rest of my tuition which was 125,000 baht. She told me I had until Thursday at 12 noon to pay for the rest of it or I will be removed from the program. As I talk with my friend Lonnie about school, I realized that God gave me peace in this situation. So as of right now I am no longer apart of the KIMBA program and I have peace in knowing when God closes one door he is able to open another.
Apart from that I got a chance to help with an English story telling contest at one of the local Universities. During this time I got a chance to meet a lot of Thai students and most of them wanted to practice their English with me. I also met a Christian woman from the Philippines that is an English professor at Shirpatum University. She was big encouragement to Kat and I because she has been in Thailand for 9 years sharing the gospel, and being a light to the lost people. Right now I will continue to learn the language and encourage my Thai Christian brothers and sisters.

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

The challenge

Well, I arrived in Thailand January 23, 2010 and from the moment I got off the plane I just knew that I would have to completely depend on God from this point on. I came to Thailand not knowing if I was accepted into Kasetsart University's graduate program, nor did I know what I would be doing in ministry while in Thailand. For about three weeks, I felt like God was keeping me in the dark about my purpose for being in Thailand. There were a few times I felt like giving up and going home, because I felt like I shouldn't be here and I thought I was running this race all by myself. During those 3 weeks, I had a chance to reconnect with my Thai friends that I meet in 2008, and I got a chance to meet and connect with some new people. Some of those new people were Nate, Pete, Aum, Bun, Bob and Paula just to name a few. Right now I am staying in a house until Pi Tote comes back. My housemates are Dang, Pete and Nate, and all of them are really nice guys. Pete and Dang are Thai, and Nate is an American missionary.
As for school, I was accepted into the Kasetsart International Master's of Business Administration (KIMBA) on January 27, 2010. So many things happened that tested my faith and belief in God. One big thing that tested my faith was coming up with the money to pay for school! I had been raising support since May of 2009, and there was a lot of people who "Said" that they was going to support me, and when time came to collect most of them backed out, so I didn't have all the support money I needed to pay to for school. So I began to pray and ask God if Thailand is where He had called me to be why didn't I have all the money and help that I needed to pay for school right now. On Feb 3, 2010 I checked my bank account and I had no money. In fact my bank account was negative. My response to that was "Lord is this some kind of joke? cause I don't get it." So I'm in Thailand I have no money, I can't even pay for school, and I want to go back home but I can't because I'm broke. Considering the pressure of all these things at one time, all I could to was give it to Jesus. That whole night I prayed to God that if he really called me to Thailand then He will make a way out of no way. That next day God did some things that I knew only He could have done. I was given 6 extra days to come up with the money, and I met a Thai professor named Dejsak Chansawas, who had been teaching tennis at KU for 25 years, invited me to come to his class on Monday and play tennis with some of his students. While playing tennis, I got a chance to meet two Thai students Paul and Jeep and they spoke good English. After class Mr. Dejsak gave me some vital information on who I should talk to, to help me with paying for school. On my way home I began to praise God because I knew that he was ordering my footsteps and leading me on the right path.
The next day I went to the director of the KIMBA program and spoke to him, just as Mr. Dejsak told me to do. Before I went to his office I told the Lord that all I have on me is 20,000 baht if this is your will for me to go to school right now then open the door and I will walk through it. So by the end of the conversation with the director, I paid 20,000 baht into the program and he gave me an additional week to pay the rest of the 125,000 baht. Man do you know all I could do was say thank you God. I mean really that is all I could do because I knew for a fact it as nothing that I had done on my own. So right now I am waiting so see how God is going to show himself to me in the next few days.

But seek first his kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Matt 6:33
